Letters from teachers and students
| Dear Glenn, My third graders and I just completed a 'rave review' concert and 'Reflections' was our 'power piece.' I have been using prepared tape compositions for a number of years, but your offerings are far superior and I think I know why. Your compositions have clearly-defined forms that are easily comprehended by young students. it was quite possible for me to lead them to discover how 'Reflections' was put together; this made internalization a reality for even the children for whom recorder mastery is a challenge! Also, you treat the recorder part as the main melodic source, rather than a 'decoration.' This makes the task of memorization a natural evolution of the learning process. | Dear Glenn, Happy New year to you! I am sending you the program from our recent Winter Concert at Southeast Elementary. Once again, your WONDERFUL music written for recorder students was featured in the program. The 3rd Grade students played 'Reflections,' which was a beautiful program piece and easily learned by them, thanks to your clearly written scores. The 5th Grade advanced group LOVED your 'R'Ode to Joy,' as did the audience. This was a number that they learned in about one or two after-school sessions, but due to the short amount of time we have to prepare for the winter concert, I was grateful for something that sounded beautiful and was easy enough for the group to master. I am a big fan of your music, as you know, and since I never like to repeat a number in a concert, I hope you keep up writing and producing these beautiful songs for recorder students. | Dear Glenn, I just received the new compositions I ordered today. I have sent along these letters that the students wrote to you. I did ask them to write them, because they are enjoying your music so very much!!! You are truly an inspiration to the students. Thank you for that!
